Is it Fear You Fear?

My husband sent me this before a job interview once: "Here's a comprehensive list of the people who you need approval from in order to chase your dream:" followed by a blank piece of paper.

Who's on your list? A spouse, co-workers, or maybe your Mother-in-law? How would it change your life if you could have a blank piece of paper right now? What would it mean for you if the fear of other people's opinions didn't exist? What would you do with your life or in your life?

For the past 15-ish years, I have allowed other people's opinions of me dictate how I live my life. I've allowed it to control my decision making and even my own self-image. Let me say that again so I can make something real clear - I allowed it. I allowed myself to believe I was in control by attempting to control everyone else's opinion of me. For those of you still doing this, ask yourself this: How's it working for you?

This year I got my first Kidney infection. Y'all, can I just say, what on earth is this kind of evil?? There are people who get these consistently and if you are one of them God bless you because it about broke me. Thank the good Lord above for modern medicine! My first thought as I was laying in urgent care hooked up to an IV - "If I lived in the 17th Century this could have been it, my life could have possibly been over". Over-dramatic yes, but valid. Research tells us the average life expectancy in the late 16th and early 17th centuries was just under 40 years of age. If that were still true today I would have about 8 years left on this earth (on average).

It took one RISE Conference, two kidney infections, a hard look in the mirror and turning 30 for me to call Bullsh** on this whole thing. Am I really going to spend the rest of my life letting other people dictate my ONE life? Get out of your own way.

"Stop letting people in the cheap seats get an expensive opinion in your life" - Rachel Hollis

If there is something you want to do but fear is holding you back, especially the fear of other people's opinions, stop it. Stop it, NOW. You have lived too many years worried about other people's opinions. And if it's failure you are worried about, failure is coming even if you don't try. Failure is a part of the journey, embrace it. The only constant in life is change, and your world is changing whether you like it or not. Whether you are calling the shots or not, life is moving forward. There are two ways to get to the end; as a passenger or as a driver - your choice. Are riding, or are you driving? If you are still riding go out and get yourself a sweet a$$ convertible, put the top down, and put that b**** in gear because there is work to be done! It's time to go all in.

"A decision you make out of fear is always going to be the wrong choice." - Rachel Hollis

GO. ALL. IN. Take control of your life!
